⚠️ Mental Prep Ritual ⚠️

Joe Burrow Mental Prep Ritual: In the precious private moments before the Louisiana State Tigers run out of the tunnel Monday night, their leader depended on the pregame rituals that got them here, four quarters of college football immortality in a place where legends never die.

The Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback has his routine, Closing his Eyes and Visualizing how the Beautiful game might unfold, how the defense might choose to attack him. This goes on for about 15 minutes!

“It’s kind of a nap,” Joe Burrow said. “I wouldn’t say I’m fully conscious. Whatever happens, happens. If I fall asleep, then I fall asleep.”

Question: ”Is there any part of you that thinks you’re going to have to keep your emotions in check, keeping yourself balanced, almost not getting too hyped leading up to the game?”

“Yeah, you do. You do have to do that. Before every game I kind of close my eyes for the 15 minutes before we go out and just kind of take a nap a little bit just to calm myself down before I go out. I think about Executing Certain plays, Visualizing defenses that we could see … maybe fall asleep.”

“Nervousness comes from Lack Of Preparation,” Joe said. “I’m going to prepare hard this week like I always do, Look at every situation, Look at every coverage, and try to Visualize what they’re going to try to do to us.”

Burrow’s strength: his mind. His coaches say his football IQ is off the charts. The man who coached Burrow at Ohio State — Urban Meyer (winner of college football national championship at two different universities) — weighed in on just how big Burrow’s football Mind is: “Joe Burrow, I just talked to him the other day, his football IQ on a 1-10 scale: it’s a 12!” Meyer said, “That’s how Smart he is. So when you see the Pressures, they are Not being Pressured!”

Joe prepares his Mind. And Accesses his Subconscious through His Ritual.
