Tommy Ford from Bend, Oregon. My summers were spent in this small town at the Bend Open Swim Meet.

Tommy Ford just earned his first World Cup win at age 30 and ended the U.S. men’s longest victory and podium droughts in two decades!

“There’s all sorts of thoughts going through the mind, some nerves coming up. Just working with them, clearing them,” said Ford, in his 86th World Cup start dating to 2009. “I’ve been skiing as hard as I can, skiing well and been on this path for a long time.”

His experience talks to the ability to use the Power of the Mind to “Clear Nerves” on his path to World Cup Gold! Many in skiing stress that “while the physical preparation may be comparable among athletes, the Mental Aspect that gets Tested on Race Days Sets Them Apart.”

Tommy Ford’s teammate Laurenne Ross said it best with: “It’s not the person who can squat the most or has the most symmetrical strength. They’re not winning. The people who have an Internal Drive and the people who have The Mental Game are the ones that are getting Gold Medals and winning World Cups!”

… another inspirational story of going after your Dreams and Challenging the World, even if you’re from a small town that very few have heard of … until now!
